    Through his (very) long and (very) rewarding 36 year career as a Canadian Military Engineer, Col Moore has served with the RCN, RCAF, Canadian Army, and NDHQ. His service has taken him across Canada, around the world, in joint, support and operational capacities, as well as in many staff and command appointments.

    Col Moore earned a BEng degree in Civil Engineering at the RMC in 1980 and a MSc degree in Planning at the UBC in 1990. He completed the Land Force Command and Staff Course in 1993 and the British Advanced Command and Staff Course in 1999.

    Col Moore has served with 1 CER, with the CFSME, and with (then) 7 Wing/CFB Ottawa. He has been the BCEO at CFB Petawawa as well as at CFB Esquimalt. He has also had two posting of construction project management in NDHQ/ADM(IE), first as a Project Officer and second as the Army Team Leader. Col Moore has served as Director Land Force Readiness 6 (Realty Management) and as the first Director of Land Infrastructure on the Canadian Army Staff in NDHQ, standing up this new office.

    In 2001, Col Moore was the Canadian Task Force Commander for Operation ADDITION at the United Nations Mission in Eritrea and Ethiopia where he held the position of Chief of Operations, Military Observer Group. From February 2006 to June 2007, he had the role of Joint Engineer, Joint Task Force (Pacific), establishing this new function arising from CF Transformation.

    From June 2007 to July 2009, Col Moore was the Base Commander of CFB/ASU Petawawa, providing support for the training, administration, emergency services, and reintegration of approximately 3,000 personnel and their families under Op ATHENA Roto 6. He then served as the Commander of the Operational Support Engineer Group under Canadian Operational Support Command until November 2010. Associated with this appointment, he also was the Branch Advisor for the Canadian Military Engineers. Key highlights of this period were: support to the Winter Olympics, response to the earthquake in Haiti, support of CF operations in Kandahar, planning for the Transition of CF operations in Afghanistan, the short notice close out of Camp Mirage, and the integration the Force Generation of General Engineering Support capabilities for Domestic and International CF Operations.

    In December 2010 Col Moore was deployed for one year to Afghanistan as the Director of Advising for the Combined Training and Advisory Group – Police within the NATO Training Mission – Afghanistan. In this capacity he also served as the Senior Advisor to the Commander of the Afghan National Police Training General Command, helping him in the stand up of this key capability for Afghan Transition. Since his return, Col Moore has been working within ADM(IE) as the Director of Real Property Planning, assisting in strategic planning for the DND Real Property portfolio as well as preparation for the Transformation of Real Property Management within DND. 

    Col Moore, his wife Kathy, and their sons Ryan and Dylan will remain in the Ottawa area. On retirement in early July, Col Moore’s initial focus will be putting kilometres on his motorbike and spending hours in his fishing boat at their cottage near Petawawa, followed by employment in the Ottawa area.
