Sgt Gordon Leslie Croucher (Ret’d)

We regret to advise the death of Sergeant Gordon Leslie Croucher (Ret’d) at the Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, BC on 28 April 2009 at the age of 79 years.
Gordon was born in Windsor, ON and grew up in the Chatham, ON area. He joined the Militia in 1945 and transferred to the Regular Force in 1948. He served in Korea with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry as a member of the 2nd Battalion and fought in the April 1951 Battle of Kapyong for which the unit received the United States Presidential Unit Citation. After Korea, he transferred to the Royal Canadian Engineers as a photographer and amongst his early assignments, he recorded the Royal visit of Princess Margret to Camp Chilliwack BC in 1958. He also served a United Nations tour in Cyprus.
In later years, Gordon became a newspaper photographer. After retiring, he moved first to Knouff Lake and later to Kamloops. Gordon was a long time member of the Army, Navy, Air Force Veterans Association, Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 52 Kamloops and Korea Veterans Association. He also belonged to the Heffley Creek Gun Club.
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on 30 May at 1:00 p.m. at the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel, 285 Fortune Drive, Kamloops Funeral Home. {dcOct2017gd}[zsp]
