Sgt Danny Henderson, CD

    Sergeant Henderson retired from the Regular Force on 28 may 2009, with 31 plus years of loyal and dedicated service to his country and the Canadian Forces.

    Sergeant Henderson joined the Canadian Forces in 1978 when he enrolled in the Infantryman. He began his basic training at CF Recruit School at BFC St-Jean-SurRichelieu in Oct 1978. After completing Basic Training, he attended Infantry Battle School at BFC Valcartier, Quebec in Jan 1979. Upon completion of Battle School in May 1979, he was posted to the 1st Commando, Canadian Airborne Regiment at CFB Petawawa, Ontario. In June 1979, Sgt Henderson successfully completed his Basic Para course at CFB Edmonton. He has also served at BFC Valcartier, Qc. in May 1980 to May 1984. He then decided to undertake the responsibilities as Detention Custodian at the Canadian Forces Service Prison and Detention Barracks at CFB Edmonton, from 1984 to Jan 1990.

    Sergeant Henderson remustered in 1990 as an Electrical Generation Systems Technician. As a member of the military engineering branch he was initially posted to CFB Chilliwack then to BFC Bagotville in 1990, CFB Cold Lake in 1995, BFC Bagotville in 1997, and CFB North Bay in 2000. Sergeant Henderson has completed five tours of duty, 4 tours at CFS Alert in 1994, 1996, 1998, and 2001, filling all the positions at the station’s power plant. He has also completed a tour as an EGS Tech with the Canadian Contingent United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) Mission in the Golan Heights in 1997.

    Sergeant Henderson plans on remaining in North Bay and is living with his wife Deborah and son Ken. A retirement ceremony is planned for Sergeant Henderson 25 June 2009, 1200 hrs, at the 22 Wing Construction Engineering Canteen.
