Master Corporal McCreary enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces on 24 May 1985 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Following his completion of basic training at Canadian forces Recruit School Cornwallis in 1985 he attended the basic Infantry School at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright, Alberta.

Upon completed training in Wainwright, Master Corporal McCreary was posted to 3PPCLI at Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt. He completed his Driver Wheel Course in March 1986. After several years in A Company he was attached to Administration Company Transport Section were he held a number of positions including dispatcher, VIP driver, Instructor and POL/Dangerous goods driver. While with 3PPCLI he was deployed to Nicosia Cyprus from 01 Mar 1988 – 01 Sept 1988.

In December of 1990 Master Corporal McCreary received a remuster into the 611 trade Construction Engineering Technician and attended Canadian Forces Base Chilliwack in British Columbia. Upon completion of his 3’s package he was posted to Canadian Forces Base Shilo in July of 1991. While in Shilo he received his Junior Leaders Course in April of 1992.

In July 1995 he was posted to Canadian Forces Base Petwawa, Ontario with Base Construction Engineering where he worked as a Draftsman. In July of 1996 he was posted to 2 Combat Engineer Regiment in Petawawa to the newly formed Area Construction Troop. In 1998 Master Corporal McCreary was deployed with 2CER to Bosnia employed as a driver for the Engineering Officer.

In March of 2000 Master Corporal McCreary was posted to Canadian Forces Base Comox, 191 Air Engineer Flight. In June 2001 attended Canadian Forces Base Gagetown, New Brunswick for his conversion to 648 Construction Technician. In December 2004 he was deployed to the Middle East as a Construction Technician performing Camp maintenance.

August 2007 saw Master Corporal McCreary posted to 4ACSS, 4 Wing Cold Lake where he was employed with WCE in the Contracts section.

Upon his Release Master Corporal McCreary will return home to his wife, Karen, their four children, Lana, Holly, Ryan and Brandon in Comox B.C.
