CWO/Adjuc Gary Shaw, CD

    CWO Shaw enrolled in the Canadian Forces on the 16 January 1975, as a Refrigeration and Mechanical Technician.

    Upon completion of Basic Training in Cornwallis and subsequent trades training in Chilliwack, he was posted to the SAGE Complex in CFS Gypsumville, Manitoba.

    CWO Shaw was posted to CFB Edmonton in 1978. During his employment with the Base Construction Engineers he was appointed to MCpl in 1979.

    In 1981, he was posted to CFS Yorkton, again to the SAGE Complex, as Maintenance Supervisor. During this posting, he completed a 6-month tour in Cyprus in 1984.

    He was promoted to Sgt in 1985 and posted to CFB Kingston as Supervisor of the BCE Refrigeration Shop.

    He was promoted and posted to CFB Halifax in 1989 and was employed as the Mechanical Maintenance Systems Supervisor. Between 1992 and 1998, he was posted to CFB Toronto, CFB Kingston, then posted to CFB Petawawa and promoted to MWO. While there he was deployed on DART in Honduras, to TF Kosovo. In 2000, he was posted back to CFB Kingston and with Joint Support Group; he completed TAV’s in Taranto, Italy, Kabul, Afghanistan and Dakar, Africa.

    In 2006, he was then posted to back to BCE at CFB/ASU Petawawa employed as the Facilities Management Superintendent and was promoted to CWO and currently the BCE CSM and Assistant Facilities Manager). CWO Shaw will retire from the CF on the 29 Jan 2011, after more than 36 years of loyal and dedicated service with the Canadian Forces.

    CWO Shaw and his wife Lori will continue to reside in Petawawa for the near future and have one son Dustin and one daughter Melanie and most recently, one granddaughter, Mackenzie.

    CWO Shaw will be having a luncheon at the Reichwald WO’s and Sgt’s Mess on 28 January 2011.
