We regret to advise of the death of Chief Warrant Officer George Douglas “Robbie“ Robertson, MMM, CD (Ret’d) of Chilliwack BC, on 18 September 2025 at the age of 87.
Born in Gilford ON, Robbie embarked on a distinguished career in the Canadian Forces and the Canadian Military Engineers in 1955 and served with unwavering commitment for 38 years.
A Mechanical Systems Technician, Robbie rose through the ranks to Chief Warrant Officer.
His service took him to various parts of Canada and Germany, including North Bay, Cold Lake, Clinton, Saint- Sylvester, Falconbridge, Holberg, Chilliwack and Lahr, Germany.-One of his most demanding and memorable postings was in the Arctic at Canadian Forces Station Alert in Nunavut and CFS Holberg where he made significant contributions.Among his accomplishments, Robbie served as the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering's Chief Warrant Officer from 1983 to 1985. The CFSME Robertson Cane award honours CWO Robertson, who was the first School CWO from outside the Field Engineer trade. Robbie was invested as a Member of the Order of Military Merit in 1986
Upon his retirement from the Canadian Forces, Robbie continued to serve his community. He was a member of the Rotary club in Chilliwack, active with the Mountain Citizen Advisory Committee for the Correctional Service, Chair of the Kent Harrison Foundation, many years as President of the Mount Cheam Volkssport Club, was active with Agassiz Harrison Community Services Christmas Hamper Program in the early 1990s and volunteered for 12 years with the Chilliwack Bruins and then the Chilliwack Chiefs.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Robbie’s memory to BC SPCA or The Chilliwack General Hospital. Online Condolences can be sent to the funeral home.
