Après plus que 15 ans de service loyal et dévoué aux Forces armées canadiennes et aux Génies militaires canadiens, le Cpl Alexander Cooper, CD, prendra sa retraite le 8 mai 2022. Alexander Cooper joined the CAF in November 2006 as an Infantryman. Upon completion of MQ, SQ, and QL3 training, he became a member of the 1st Nova Scotia Highlanders (N). In February 2009, he completed PLQ and in March 2009, he was promoted to Corporal.
Cpl Cooper deployed to Afghanistan as a member of the Kandahar Provincial Reconstruction Team from April to December 2010.
After returning to Canada, Cpl Cooper completed the Infantry PLQ course in July 2011 and was promoted to Master Corporal that September. Upon promotion, MCpl Cooper was employed as an instructor at LFAA TC Det Aldershot. In April 2014, MCpl Cooper completed the Infantry DP2 Advanced Small Arms and was promoted to Sergeant in October 2015.
In March 2018, Sgt Cooper left the Infantry and joined the Engineers as a Construction Technician. After completing QL3 training, Cpl Cooper was posted to 14 Wing Greenwood. In July 2020, he received the Canadian Forces Decoration (CD). Cpl Cooper deployed to Latvia from October 2020 to March 2021.
Cpl Cooper will retire from the CAF this May with more than fifteen years of dedicated service.
