L'AGMC est une association dynamique ouverte à tous les membres de la famille Génie Militaire Canadien. Depuis sa création en 2000, il a grandi à près de 2500 membres avec 21 chapitres et six unités de réserve affiliées réparties dans tout le pays.

Le Cénotaphe de tous les sapeurs est restauré

Le Cénotaphe de tous les sapeurs à Vedder Crossing, en Colombie-Britannique, a été conçu par le lieutenant-colonel Coulson Norman Mitchell, VC, MC en 1945, alors qu'il était commandant du Camp Chilliwack. Il participa également personnellement à la supervision de sa construction. In 2003, Shawn Thorburn enlisted as an infanteer in the Canadian Armed Forces, completing basic training in Saint Jean, Quebec, and Battle school in Wainwright, Alberta. CWO Doug Reid, CD (Ret’d)

We regret to advise of the death of Firefighter Chief Warrant Officer Doug Reid, CD (Ret’d) of Medicine Hat AB, on 6 March 2026 at age 82.

Doug joined the Canadian Army as a 9th Intake (1960) Sapper Apprentice and started his career with the Royal Canadian Engineers as an Army Fire Safety Inspector. He transferred to the Firefighter trade on Integration of the Canadian Forces. Some of Doug’s many postings during his 25 years of uniformed service included Fire Chief at Canadian Forces Station Mont Apica, Fire Chief at Canadian Forces Base Toronto, and at Air Command Headquarters in Winnipeg.  

On retirement from the Canadian Forces, Doug started a second career in the Public Service as the civilian Fire Chief at CFB Suffield AB where he served for 10 years. He then retired in Medicine Hat AB.

Friends are welcome to join in celebrating Doug’s life at the Robertson Memorial Royal Canadian Legion Branch {17 at 702 – 2 St. SE} in Medicine Hat on Saturday, 21 March 2026 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, a memorial tribute in honour of your friendship with Doug can be made to the Robertson Memorial Royal Canadian Legion Branch 17 ‘Poppy Fund’ {702 – 2 St. SE, Medicine Hat, AB T1A 0E1}. CWO William “Bill” John Drexel Vandervoort, CD (Ret’d)

We regret to advise of the death of Chief Warrant Officer William “Bill” John Drexel Vandervoort, CD (Ret’d), peacefully on 22 February 2026 at Westgate Lodge in Belleville ON at the age of 90.

Born in Powell River BC, Bill served his country with great pride and distinction in the Canadian Armed Forces for 43 years with the Construction Engineering component of the Canadian Military Engineers.

Funeral arrangements were private. If desired, donations to Quinte Access would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences can be sent to the funeral home.

 

MWO Robert “Bob” Dick, CD (Ret’d)

We regret to advise of the death of Master Warrant Officer Robert “Bob” Dick, CD (Ret’d) In Pembroke ON, at age 87 on 14 February 2026.

Bob was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. He immigrated to Canada at the age of eight with his mother and younger brother to join his father who had come a year earlier for work. Bob was raised in Kingston ON, and joined the Canadian Armed Forces and the Royal Canadian Engineers as a Field Engineer with the Apprentice Training Program 6th Intake (1952).

During his 28-year military career, Bob served in Chilliwack BC, Petawawa ON, Lahr, Germany; and on exchange with the Royal School of Military Engineering in  Chattenden, England. Following his retirement, Bob pursued a second career with the Ministry of Natural Resources until 2016.

Bob was a proud and devoted member of the Masonic Lodge where he was recognized as Very Worshipful Brother Robert Dick, Past Grand Steward. He was a 50-year service award recipient, a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, and an active Shriner. 

Friends and family are invited to gather at the Zohr Family Funeral Home in Renfrew, where visitation will be held on 2 March 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service in the Zohr Family Chapel at 12:00 noon. A reception will follow at the funeral home.
Donations to the Shriners Children’s Burn Unit in memory of Bob would be appreciated. Tributes, condolences, and donations can be made online to the funeral home.
