Spr Stanton, joined the Canadian Army on 14 August 2017 as a Combat Engineer. He immediately started Basic Training at CFLRS in Saint Jean Richelain, Quebec, on 26 August 2017. After completing Basic Training on 11 September 2017, he travelled to CFB Gagetown. There, he completed SQ from 10 December 2017 to 28 January 2018. Spr Stanton continued his training in Gagetown, completing DP1 from 31 January 2018 to 8 June 2018. After DP1, he was posted to 1 CER in Edmonton on 9 June 2018. After five months at the Regiment, he was jumping out of planes on the Basic Para course, which ran from 19 November 2018 to 7 December 2018. Following this excitement, Spr Stanton has continued to work at 1 CER. He will release from the CAF on 13 August 2021.
After his release, Spr Stanton plans to use his dual citizenship to join the American Air Force with the goal of, one day, flying F-22s. In the summer of 2022, he will enrol at America Flight School based in Houston, Texas, learning to fly fixed-wing aircraft. Spr Stanton is very excited for a challenging future, which will begin by moving to Texas with his girlfriend.
