    We regret to advise of the death of Sergeant Joseph Ralph Paul Leaman, CD (Ret'd) on 3 May 2002 at the age of 64 years.

    Ralph was born in Moncton, NB. He was a Field Engineer who served with the Royal Canadian Engineers and Canadian Military Engineers for 25 years. During his career he served in all four Regular Force Field Squadrons: 2 Field Squadron, Gagetown, NB; 3 Field Squadron, Chilliwack, BC; 4 Field Squadron, Germany; and 5e Escadron du Génie du Canada, Valcartier, QC. Ralph was one of the early members of 5e Escadron when that francophone unit was formed. He retired in Chilliwack and worked as a bartender at the Sergeants' Mess in Base Chilliwack and lately was Senior Bartender at the Area Support Unit Mess in Chilliwack. Ralph was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #280 in Vedder Crossing, BC and a past member of the Vedder Crossing Lions Club.

    A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #280, Vedder Crossing on 10 May at 1 p.m. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of British Columbia. {kh/gdMay2016dc}[zpi, zsp, ztt]
