We regret to advise of the death of Sergeant Kelly Smith, CD, a firefighter with 19 Wing Comox, who died at home on Sunday 5 Jun 2011 at 50 years.

Sgt Smith had served the early part of his 25-year Canadian Forces career as an Infantryman with the Royal Canadian Regiment before transferring to the Canadian Military Engineers and becoming a Firefighter. His career included postings to many locations including Petawawa, Baden, Winnipeg, Comox as well deployments to Cyprus (1964 and 1986) and Afghanistan (2005 and 2007).

The funeral of Sgt Kelly Smith will take place on Saturday, 11 June at 1000 hrs at the Protestant Chapel Lazo, BC. The Chapel is located beside the arena on Military Row just outside 19 Wing Comox.
