    We regret to advise of the death of Squadron Leader Arthur Finlayson Haggart, CD (Ret’d), peacefully on 23 June 2019 at the Queensway Carleton hospital in Ottawa ON at age 90 years. Arthur was a firefighter with the Royal Canadian Air Force for 29 years rising from the rank of Leading Aircraftsman to Squadron Leader.

    Among his career accomplishments were Fire Chief at RCAF Station Centralia ON and Canadian Forces Base Baden in Germany, Fire Marshal at Air Command, Air Transport Command and Training Command, and Officer Commanding of the Fire School & Firefighter Training Company at Canadian Forces Base Borden ON.

    After retiring from the Canadian Forces Arthur coordinated and managed the new Lambton College Industrial Fire School for more than 15 years. He was active with veterans as a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and was a Past President of the Sarnia Branch 62 and RCAF Association 403 (City of Sarnia) Wing. He received the Meritorious Service Medal from the Legion and was also named an Ontario Volunteer Service Award winner in 2000 for his work for 12 years with the Sarnia Highland Games.
