    We regret to advise of the death of Joseph “Wayne” Clyde Auby in Digby, NS on 21 June 2019 at 75 years of age..

    Wayne was born in Halifax, NS and spent his youth in the Clementsport, NS area, until he joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1961 with the Royal Canadian Engineers. After completing his basic training at the Royal Canadian School of Military Engineering in Chilliwack, BC he was posted to 1 Field Squadron at Camp Petawawa, ON. During this tour Wayne deployed to Egypt as a member of the United Nations Emergency Force.

    Wayne retired from the Canadian Forces in 1971 and moved to Hamilton, ON, where he worked for Defasco Steel as an equipment operator.  Wayne moved his family in 1988 to return to his roots in Nova Scotia and settled in Deep Brook, where he farmed and worked with his brother Barry’s refrigeration repair business. After farming, Wayne worked as a Commissionaire at Canadian Forces Base Cornwallis, NS for 10 years with the Military Police Detachment, Cornwallis Park Development Agency and then with Lester B. Pearson Peacekeeping Training Centre before fully retiring.

    Cremation has taken place. You are invited to celebrate Wayne's lfe at Jayne's Funeral Home in Digby on Sunday, 30 June 2019 from 1:30-3:30 pm with a time to share at 2:00: pm with a private family interment.. Donations in memory may be made to Canadian Cancer Society. Online condolences can be sent to the Funeral Home.
