Spr William Malcolm MacLure (Ret’d)

We regret to advise of the death of Sapper William Malcolm MacLure (Ret’d), age 79, of Montague, PE on 15 January 2019 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown, PE.
Bill joined the Royal Canadian Engineers with the 5th Intake of the Sapper Apprentice Program at the Royal Canadian School of Military Engineering in Chilliwack, BC in 1956. Upon completion of this training he was posted to 2 Field Squadron in Camp Gagetown, NB. During his career he deployed on a United Nations peacekeeping tour in the Middle East.
Bill took his release from the Canadian Forces in 1962, settled in Montague, PE and worked with CN Marine Atlantic. Starting as a 4th Class Engineer, he obtained his 3rd Class Engineer’s certificate and was studying for his 2nd Class when he retired from CN. After retiring from CN he became Transportation Supervisor for the former Regional School District Unit Three in Prince Edward Island. Upon retirement from that position he enjoyed his favourite hobby of stained glass and volunteering with different organizations. Bill was a member of the volunteer fire department and was also an active member of his local Montague Legion Branch No. 8.
