Norman Arthur Dalman

We regret to advise of the sudden death of Norman Arthur Dalman in Selkirk, MB on 3 December 2008 at the age of 88 years.
Norman was born and raised in Selkirk. He was a veteran of the Second World War and served in the 20th Field Company, Royal Canadian Engineers in France, Belgium and Holland. He returned to Holland on many trips after the war and was present in Arnhem attending the dedication of the Operation BERLIN Monument. The 20th Field Company, along with the 23rd Field Company, participated in Operation BERLIN in evacuating Allied paratroopers from the enemy side of the river.
After the war, Norman married and lived for 60 years in Netley, MB before moving to Selkirk. He was employed by the federal government working at RCAF Station Gimli and later the Minto Armouries in Winnipeg, MB. Norman retired from the public service at the age of 65 but, still being active, he began working at the Gimli Lakeside Camp for the Disabled. He was also involved with his community serving as a school trustee for the Netley Lake School and was a 42-year member of the Royal Canadian Legion Selkirk Branch #42.
A remembrance of Norman's life will be held on 9 December 2008 at 1:00 PM at Gilbart's Funeral Home in Selkirk. A private family interment will take place at Saint George Wakefield Anglican Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Norman's memory to the Canadian Wildlife Federation. {dcJan18gd} [zsp]
