Spr Walter “Wally” Alexander Hair

We regret to advise of the death of Sapper Walter “Wally” Alexander Hair at the Foothills Medical Centre, Calgary AB on 11 September 2002 at the age of 83.
Wally was born in Wigston Magna, Leicester, England but immigrated to Canada at a young age. He was raised in Woodstock ON and was a WW II veteran who served overseas with the 7th Field Company, Royal Canadian Engineers. He was captured and made a Prisoner of War in the Dieppe Raid. After the war, Wally lived in Chilliwack BC before moving to Edmonton and eventually to Calgary where he worked for the Southern Albert Institute of Technology until his retirement in 1983. He was active in the Masonic Order, Order of the Eastern Star and the Al Azhar Shrine Temple.
Funeral Services will be held at Leyden’s Funeral Home "Chapel of Remembrance", 17 Avenue and 2 Street S.W., on 16 September at 1:00 p.m. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 1825 Park Road S.E., Calgary, or the Shrine Children's Hospital c/o Al Azhar Temple, Box 700, 38 Bowness Postal Outlet, Calgary. {gdJul2016kh}
