Spr Earl Stanley “Si” McConkey (Ret’d)

We regret to advise of the death of Sapper Earl Stanley “Si” McConkey (Ret’d) at the Parkwood Institute in London ON. He was 96 years old. Harold was born in Norfolk ON.
Si enlisted in the Royal Canadian Engineers in 1942 in London and trained in Listowel and Petawawa, Ontario. He served in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany, and was proud of the fact he helped bridge the Rhine. He returned to Canada and was discharged in January 1946. Returning to civilian life, he worked as a truck driver and operating heavy equipment operator. He and his wife, Maxine, had seven children together. Earl was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Port Burwell Branch 524 for over 40 years.
In keeping with Earl’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Earl’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice by contacting Ostrander’s Funeral Home Limited in Tillsonburg ON who have been entrusted with arrangements and would be appreciated by the McConkey family.
