    We regret to advise of the death of Corporal Michael Ducey (Ret’d)  of Richmond BC on 17 October 2023.

    A graduate of Camille J LeRouge Collegiate in Red Deer AB, Mike enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces in 1987. After his basic Combat Engineer training at the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering in Chilliwack BC, he was posted to 4 Combat Engineer Regiment in Lahr, Germany. While with 4 CER, he deployed to Croatia in 1992 as a Reconnaissance Driver. Upon the closing of Canadian Forces Base Lahr and the return of the Canadian Forces  personnel to Canada, Mike was posted to 6 Field Engineer Squadron in North Vancouver as a member of the Regular Support Staff.

    Mike retired from the Canadian Forces in 1995 and then proceeded on a path that led to his successful second career as a project manager. He received a Civil and Structural Engineering diploma at the British Columbia Institute of Technology in 1999 and then became General Manager with Western Tank & Lining Ltd in Richmond. After some 15 years, Mike moved on to become Division Manager, Corporate Projects and Facilities at Metro Vancouver in 2016.

    A service for Mike will be held at 11:00 am on 4 November 4 at the Richmond Funeral Home, 8420 Cambie Road in Richmond.  All who knew Mike are welcome to attend.
