We regret to advise of the death of Lieutenant Colonel James B. “Jay” Lucas, CD (Ret’d), peacefully on 6 September 2022 at the age of 94 in his Victoria, BC home.

Born in Buffalo, New York, Jay was an excellent student athlete who excelled at basketball at both high school and university. He graduated in Civil Engineering from the University of Manitoba in 1951. Having greatly enjoyed his cadet experience in his youth, Jay then made the decision to join the Royal Canadian Air Force.

After 30 years of distinguished service with the Canadian Military Engineers as a Construction Engineer officer with many postings across Canada and at National Defence Headquarters in Ottawa, Jay retired in Ottawa where he subsequently enjoyed a second career in property management with the Public Service. After this second career, he retired to Victoria BC.

Jay provided for many charities during his life and after. In lieu of flowers, he would encourage you to do the same. The family will gather to celebrate Jay's life at a later date. Online condolences can be sent to the funeral home.
