    We regret to advise of the death of Warrant Officer Allan Douglas “Bud” McChesney, CD (Ret’d) of Edmonton AB on Monday 22 August 2022 at the age of 80 years.

    Bud was born in South Porcupine ON and grew up in Timmins ON, the eldest of four children. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1958 at the young age of 16 and proudly continued his Army career until he retired as a Warrant Officer in 1979. 

    Bud started his military career as an Artillery Surveyor but, while serving with 4th Regiment, Royal Canadian Horse Artillery in Petawawa ON, he remustered to become a Topographic Surveyor with the Royal Canadian Engineers in 1958. Bud served the remainder of his military career with Army Survey Establishment (later Mapping and Charting Establishment ) in Ottawa. His career with the Canadian Military Engineers focused on the work of the Military City Map program. In addition, he worked on the Arctic Survey program in 1971.

    Bud retired from the Canadian Forces in 1978 at the rank of Warrant Officer and moved his family to Edmonton where he began a second successful career with Alberta Department of Highways. Bud also continued to do contract work with the Armed Forces bases in Edmonton. 

    A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, 2 September 2022 at 2:00 pm at Kensington Shepherd's Care Chapel (3rd floor), 12603 135 Avenue NW Edmonton.
