We regret to advise of the death of Sapper Perry Christopher “PJ” Cuomo (Ret’d), peacefully on 21 January 2022 at age 37 in his home town of Dowling ON after a short battle with a brain tumor.

PJ (Perry Jr) enlisted in the Canadian Forces in 2004. After completing his basic Combat Engineering training at the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering in Canadian Forces Base Gagetown NB, he served as a sapper with 2 Combat Engineer Regiment in Petawawa ON.  A member of 2 Troop of 23 Field Squadron, he deployed to Afghanistan as part of TF 3-6 Operation ARCHER and participated in Operation MEDUSA. Perry took his release from the Canadian Forces shortly after returning home from that deployment.

PJ was well respected by his peers, stood out to his commanders and had a lasting positive impact on his friends, teammates and brothers/sisters in arms. He was known for his unshakable will and was awarded the Warrior Spirit Award upon QL-3 course graduation.

Due to the current COVID restrictions, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Online condolences can be sent to the funeral home.  Donations to ‘Soldier On’ a foundation for wounded Canadian Veterans, can be made in PJ’s honour.
