Marc Binney Fundraiser Success

Publié le 29 juin 2016

Just over a month ago, the Comox Chapter of the CMEA initiated a fundraising campaign for Marc Binney, a Canadian Forces veteran having served proudly with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) for 13 years and as an Engineer for the remainder of his career as a carpenter. Kaitha his wife has worked for 17 years as a civilian member of Construction Engineering (now Real Property Operations) in Comox, BC.

Marc, at the young age of 43, has been diagnosed with Stage III Pancreatic Cancer. Marc and Kaitha have started a battle together that will end with only one of them remaining; Kaitha will remain to hold the hands of their two boys by herself. Currently, Marc is in the hospital with a high fever battling an infection (Cholangitis) due to the tumour putting pressure on the bile duct. This is only the beginning of his fight so that he may be with his boys (Tyler and Rhys) as long as he can.

Marc's plight was brought to the attention of the Engineer in Need programme and a separate locally organised Fundraising BBQ was held this past weekend in Comox.  In total nearly $4000 was raised.

Bravo Zulu Comox!

Marc and his wife have greatly appreciated these efforts.  Being a man of few words, he sent this thank you to the Chapter:

A simple “Thank you” letter cannot begin to express the gratitude that my family and I have for the most generous donations from our Engineer family.

Our deepest thanks goes to all members across Canada for this helping hand.  I have yet to see a true engineer ever back away from a challenge and this proves it.

We have a long road ahead of us and a hard fight…quitting is not an option!!!!!!

Once again thank you,

Sincerely

Marc R. Binney
