Major Archibald Donald Carmichael (Ret'd) died 14 February 2005, in Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Building, Queen Elizabeth II, Halifax at the age of 88 years.

Born in Bruce Mines, Ont., he graduated from Queen's University with a Master of Engineering and a Master of Geology. During the Second World War, Archibald served for five years overseas with the Royal Canadian Engineers including the Italian campaign, France, Germany and the Liberation of Holland. After the war, Major Carmichael was Officer Commanding 9^th Field Squadron, Noranda, PQ, 1946-52. His career in geology took him throughout Canada and Alaska. Later he taught high school physics in Toronto.

A private memorial service was held. Donations in his memory may be made to Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Garden, QEII or a charity of your choice. ^{[zsd, zpp]}
