On 7 August 2026, the Canadian Military Engineer Colonel Commandant, Lieutenant-General Paul Wynnyk, CMM, MSM, CD presented Lieutenant-Colonel Ralph Gienow, OMM, CD, (Retired) with a CMEA Commendation.
LCol Gienow joined the CF in 1960 and retired in 1983 after serving across Canada, the United States, Egypt, The Golan Heights, and Germany.
Ralph has been an active member of the Military Engineer Association of Canada and the Canadian Military Engineer Association since his retirement from the Canadian Forces in 1983.
Ralph joined the CMEA's predecessor organization, the Military Engineer Association of Canada, in 1983. He was the MEAC Edmonton Chapter President in 2000 when their Executive Committee decided to form the first branch of the newly formed CMEA in Edmonton. Later, in 2009, he became the Edmonton Branch's Secretary/Treasurer. He held this combined position until retirement in the fall of 2025; a total of more than 42 years of dedicated service to the Engineer Association.
Ralph's steadfast dedication and unwavering commitment to the Association and its objectives are noteworthy and have earned him this commendation.
