27 Feb: Comox Chapter had its first Beaver Coffee for 2020. Last fall we voted in a budget plan that allows our chapter to gather every few months to stay updated on CMEA news and enjoy each other’s company over coffee. This has been well received by the membership and should continue well into the future. This time we supported the local economy by splurging on Big Foot Donuts, a local shop that produces some incredible specialty donuts!
Our President, Capt Emilie Aumont, took the floor for a short presentation to the membership. She updated the group on our support to 2 local engineers. We were able to provide financial support to the family of a fallen comrade (including funding from the Sapper Net) as well as a member who was struggling financially. The intent of our chapter to always maintain a balance in our budget so we help those in need has proven to be a wise decision. We are very proud of our ability to help the engineer family.
We also looked forward at our calendar and highlighted the upcoming BEAVER CUP being hosted by CFB Esquimalt ‘down-island’ 14-17 April. We hope to see some strong attendance to this excellent event. On the local front, we are looking at sponsoring a hole during the upcoming MILITARY ENGINEER GOLF DAY here in Comox 14-15 May with a meet and greet on the evening of the 13th. We intend to have some fun on the links and raise funds for the chapter as we play a part in this annual engineer event.
