In Spring 2022, the Petawawa Rotary Club wanted to recognize all current and former units of CFB Petawawa and proposed displaying banners for these units on the streets of Base Petawawa. This proposal was sanctioned by CFB Petawawa and the Town of Petawawa individuals were subsequently invited to sponsor a unit. CWO Ralph Storey, MMM, CD (Ret’d), a former Regimental Sergeant Major of 2 Combat Engineer Regiment and the first Canadian Military Engineers Branch Chief Warrant Officer, quickly stepped up to sponsor the 2 CER banner.
All the banners were displayed with their sponsors at a meeting at the Royal Canadian Legion in Petawawa in mid-October. The next day they were all properly displayed on Petawawa Boulevard and some side streets. The banners will be taken down after Remembrance Day and stored for display next year.
Next year we expect that the banner for 1 Field Squadron will be added to the display.
