At every Ottawa Senators’ home game, the Senators partner with Lépine Apartments to pay homage to the brave men and women who serve our country. The tradition of Hero’s Ridge dates to 2015 and sees a Canadian Armed Forces veteran and their family enjoy a game from the Hero’s Ridge suite. This year, Veterans Affairs Canada and our partners mark the 80th anniversary of the Liberation of the Netherlands and Victory in Europe (V-E) Day.
On May 2, 2025, Faces To Graves and the Government of Canada will hold a ceremony at the Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery in the Netherlands. It will honour the 2,338 Canadian soldiers buried there and the 100 Canadians who have no known grave.

Our 122nd Anniversary of the Canadian Military Engineers coincides with the end of my tenure as your Colonel Commandant. This four-year term has been for me a great honour and an immense privilege. This term allowed me to witness and participate in two historical events. The first was my attendance at the State Funeral of Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II, who had been our Colonel-in-Chief for over 60 years.

LCol Dan Doran, CD (Ret'd) has been serving with the Canadian Armed Forces for 26 years, involving deployments to Afghanistan and Sudan. He serves enthusiastically with many charities and organizations including the Vimy Foundation, St. John Ambulance, Treble Victor Group, and Concordia University.
