Spr Bruce McPhail (Ret’d)

We regret to advise of the death of Sapper Bruce McPhail (Ret’d) of Bracebridge, ON as a result of a motor accident on 5 June 2014. Bruce was 74 years of age. His wife Ruth Ann was also killed in the accident.
Bruce grew up in Kitchener, ON and attended Kitchener - Waterloo Collegiate & Vocational School. He served with the Royal Canadian Engineers 1958 - 1961. Bruce completed a tour with the United Nations Emergency Force in Egypt with 1 Middle East Detachment, RCE In 1960 - 61. After he retired from the Canadian Forces in 1961 he operated his clothing store “McPhails of Muskoka” in Bracebridge.
Bruce served his community for many years as a Rotarian (Paul Harris Fellow); Masonic Lodge Member, Kinsmen, and member of the Town Council Member. He was a Member of the Canadian Association of Veterans in United Nations Peacekeeping and was a Founding Member of the Central Ontario Chapter, Barrie, ON. Bruce was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #161 in Bracebridge.
A celebration of life for Bruce and Ruth Ann will take place at Annie Williams Park in Bracebridge on 21 June from 1:00 to 5:00 PM.. Donations may be made to either the Rotary Club of Bracebridge, where Bruce was a Paul Harris Fellow, or the Bracebridge Legion Branch #161. {gdMay2019dc} [zdb]
