The CBC reported today that Col André Corbould (Ret'd) will become City Manager for Edmonton effective 18 January 2021. Due to COVID-19, GW Graham Secondary School in Sardis and CFB Chilliwack Historical Society regrettably will not be hosting a Veterans Appreciation Day with Student Play this year. However, Damon Fultz, offers a back-up plan. Damon has presented a play for CFBCHS every year for the past 20 years, and he wishes not to break the cycle. So, Damon and his staff filmed a play for presentation dedicated to all Veterans and Serving members.

Major Bruce Sand served for 40 years in the Rhodesian and Canadian Armies as an engineer officer. He fought and kept the peace.
In retirement, Bruce has found a new calling as a poet and a short story writer. His book, A Soldier's Life: A Sapper's Poems and Short Stories is described in our New Publications section. Copies have been sent to the CME Museum in Gagetown, and our Colonel Commandant will be presenting a copy to Her Majesty the Queen.

After six years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Military Engineers, BGen Steve Irwin (Ret'd) will transfer the duties of Colonel Commandant to MGen Dan Benjamin, effective 21 March 2021. The Change of Appointment ceremony will take place in accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines in effect at that time.
The CMEA welcomes General Benjamin and sends a heart felt thank you to General Irwin for his loyal and energetic service.

Over the years, The Netherlands has struck several versions of their “Medal of Remembrance” to honour the soldiers who helped liberate their country during the Second World War. In 1995, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Holland, the Netherlands offered a "Thank you Canada" anniversary medal to the more than 20,000 Canadian veterans who came to Holland to celebrate this memorable occasion.
