    After more than 36 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Military Engineers, WO Cornelis Van Campen, CD, will retire on 01 May 2023. Anecdotes and retirement wishes may be sent to WO J.S. Morin at Sebastien.Morin3@forces.gc.ca.


    WO Van Campen joined the Canadian Forces in August 1986 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Throughout most of his career, WO Van Campen served in Combat Engineer Regiments, at all ranks from Sapper to WO. He served twice at 22 Fd Sqn now 4 ESR Gagetown, 4 CER Lahr, Germany, 4 Wing Cold Lake, four separate times at 1 CER, CMTC Wx as COEFOR Ops WO, G3 Eqpt at LFWA HQ, 41 CER Ops WO, G3 Trg/Ammo in 1 CMBG and G4 Maint as AFV TAPV Facility Manager. As a Combat Engineer and Heavy Equipment Operator, he acquired specialist training as a Hazmat Technician and various heavy equipment qualifications. His deployments include four years in Germany with NATO, twice in Bosnia on OP PALLADIUM with the Infantry Battle Group Task Force Aviano, Italy, and CFS Alert.

    His personal interest is the 1965 Shelby Cobra Mark IV Roadster that he plans to build one day. Until then, his current hobby is calligraphy and renovating his RV
