We regret to advise of the death of Honorary Colonel Marc Bertrand, CD (Ret’d) on 12 April 2023 at age 66. Colonel Bertrand was Commanding Officer of 34 Combat Engineer Regiment from 1995 to 1999 and later served as Honorary Colonel of the regiment (2015 - 2018).

Marc was an extraordinary man of many talents who lived a full life.  Philosopher and musician in his spare time, Marc had recently been working on a philosophical book titled “Trouver le bonheur au crépuscule de l’humanité” (meaning “Finding Happiness at the Twilight of Humanity") which he had time to finish on 9 April 2023.

A ceremony celebrating Marc’s life will take place at the church of Saint-François-Salles {7070 Bd des Mille-Îles, Laval, QC } on Saturday, 29 April 2023 at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow until 3:00 p.m in the community room behind the church. That same day, family and close friends who so wish are invited to the family residence until the evening so that you can pay tribute. Online Condolences can be sent to the funeral home. The family does not wish to receive flowers, but encourages donations to help finance Marc's book, his last "sandcastle".
