After more than 42 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and the Canadian Military Engineer Branch, Sgt Jim Lariviere, CD will retire on 20 Sep 2017. mailto:Ryan.Lynch@forces.gc.ca >) Sgt J.E. Lariviere enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in Kingston, Ontario in June 1975 as a Signalman Sea 261. During his 42+ year career in both the Regular and Air Reserve he was in H.M.C.S. Provider and H.M.C.S. Yukon in Esquimalt, B.C. , C.F.B. Comox, H.M.C.S. Annapolis in Halifax, Nova Scotia. In the Regular force as a sailor from 1976 to 1980 Sgt Lariviere deployed to sea for over 730 days which includes time at sea as a firefighter 1984 to 1985 after re-mustering in 1981 to Firefighter 651. He also was deployed as a firefighter to C.F.S. Alert in 1986. In 1998 Sgt Lariviere did a component transfer to the Air Reserve and continued to serve at 19 Wing Comox as the Chief Fire Inspector until his retirement September 20, 2017. Sgt Lariviere continues to live in Comox with his spouse Pam and continuing to work as an Assistant Fire Chief with the Town of Comox.
