Après plus de 29+ ans de bons et loyaux services au sein des Forces armées canadiennes (FAC) et la Branche du Génie militaire canadien, l'Adjudant-maître Rick Aucoin, CD (veuillez voir la bio ci-jointe), prendra sa retraite le 8 Décembre 2016. Une cérémonie de départ dans la dignité aura lieu au Mess des Adjs & Sgts du 5 CDSG Gagetown, le 28 Octobre 2016 de 13h00 à 15h00. MWO Aucoin joined the Reserves in 45 Field Engineer Sqn Sydney NS in 1986. He completed his QL3 in St Johns Newfoundland in the summer of 1987 and his Ql5 in Gagetown the following year. He completed his driver’s course, winter warfare in Gagetown with 22 Field Squadron and a tasking in Chilliwack in the field section. Now newly promoted to corporal he became the full time Squadron Quarter Master. He then completed his PLQ in Aldershot in and his QL6A in Chilliwack. He remained as the full time SQMS for 8 years making it to the rank of Sgt. As a Sgt he completed his rappel masters course with 2RCR in Gagetown, Basic and advance Radiation Safety Officer and Instructor Techniques courses.
In Jan 1997, MWO Aucoin component transferred to the regular force, posted to 2 CER in Petawawa. Only two months in the Reg force Cpl Aucoin attended his combat leader’s course and was the top candidate. He deployed to Bosnia in 1998 OP PALLADIUM and was promoted to MCpl Aug 1999. Promoted to Sgt in Apr 2002, he deployed again to Bosnia in Sep 2003 as a Section Comd. In Feb 2005, he deployed to Kabul as the Op’s Sgt (OP ATHENA). Upon return, he was promoted to WO in Jul 2007 and again deployed to Kandahar in Sep 2008 as the Tp WO on OP ATHENA. While in 2 CER MWO Aucoin held the following positions: Section 2IC, RSM’s Driver, Section Comd, Recce, Sqn OP’s, Regimental OP’s and Trg, and TP WO and deployed on two Domestic Operations, the Winnipeg Floods Apr 1997 and the Ice Storm in Jan 1998. He also deployed to NFLD on a Security task for the fires in Goose bay and a Search task for body recovery in Miaramachi while in 4 ESR. After returning from Afghanistan, he was posted to CFSME in July 2009 where he became the Course NCO for the Recce Ops, TP WO and the BEOC 1.2 (Phase 4) Officers Course. In July 2012, MWO Aucoin was promoted to his current rank and posted to 4 ESR as the Field Sqn SSM. In Aug 2013, he became the Adm Sqn SSM and remained in that position for two years. In July 2015 he was posted to G7 AITA training and design at CTC HQ then JPSU 4 July 2016. Rick is Married to Kim and has Son Brandon (20 living in Pembroke) and a Stepson Trevor (21 also living in Pembroke). They are still deciding whether they are going to remain in Burton or move to Gods country in Cape Breton. Chimo
