Neeham Khalid joined the Canadian Armed Forces in January 2012 as a Clerk with 34 Combat Engineer Regiment. He began his military career in administration, supporting the regiment and its members in a variety of personnel and administrative functions. Following the division of the Clerk trade into Human Resources Administrator (HRA) and Financial Services Administrator (FSA), Neeham chose to specialize as a Human Resources Administrator.
Over the following years, Neeham served in a variety of roles and organizations, gaining experience in human resources administration, personnel management, training, and military support. His service included time with 34 Combat Engineer Regiment and 5 Military Police Regiment, as well as assignments supporting other Canadian Armed Forces organizations. He participated in domestic operations, exercises, and training activities, including Operation LENTUS in 2017.
Neeham's contributions throughout his early military career were recognized on several occasions. In 2013, he received a Commander's Coin and Letter of Appreciation from 2 Canadian Division in Valcartier. He received a Letter of Appreciation from 5 Military Police Regiment in 2016. In 2022, he received a Canadian Military Engineer Branch Commendation and a Commander's Coin. In 2024, he was awarded the Canadian Forces' Decoration for his service in the Canadian Armed Forces.
While continuing his military service, Neeham pursued his education in computer science and software engineering. He completed his studies at Vanier College before earning a Bachelor of Software Engineering from Concordia University in Montreal. His interest in technology led him to pursue a civilian career in software development, allowing him to develop a second professional career alongside his military service.
Neeham currently works as a Senior Software Developer, where he develops and supports large-scale software systems and solutions. His professional experience includes software development, automated testing, authentication and identity systems, continuous integration and delivery, and enterprise technology. He has also developed a strong interest in artificial intelligence and its application to software development, and continues to explore new technologies and development practices.
Throughout his civilian career, Neeham has continued to serve in the Canadian Armed Forces. His military career evolved from human resources administration toward logistics, operations, and leadership. He eventually commissioned as an officer and continued his professional military development while balancing his military responsibilities with a full-time career in software development.
Neeham currently serves with 34 Service Battalion as a Logistics Officer, where he has taken on responsibilities in logistics, planning, operations, and leadership. His military experience includes domestic operations, field exercises, training, logistics planning, and the coordination of personnel, vehicles, equipment, and other resources required to support military activities. He continues to pursue professional military education and qualifications while serving in the Reserve Force.
An important part of Neeham's military service has also been training and developing others. He has developed and delivered military instruction, including training on new military radios, and has supported weapons training through C7, grenade, and C22 range activities. He particularly enjoys teaching and sharing knowledge and sees training as an important part of developing confident and capable soldiers and leaders.
His combined experience in the Canadian Armed Forces and technology sector has given Neeham a particular interest in communications, information management, and the preservation and sharing of institutional knowledge. He has a strong interest in military history, current affairs, technology, operations, and the people behind the organizations he serves.
Neeham hopes to bring together his military experience, technical background, and interest in communications to highlight the people, activities, accomplishments, and history of the Canadian Military Engineer community.
