Chief Warrant Officer Stacy Merriam was born in Trail BC and enrolled in the Canadian Forces in 1990. Upon completing basic training in Cornwallis, NS, he was posted to the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering (CFSME) in Chilliwack, BC. After graduating from CFSME in June 1991, he was posted to 1 CER. While in 1CER, he filled a broad spectrum of regimental positions from Sapper to Sergeant, including deploying on Op HARMONY (Croatia - 1994), moving the with the regiment to Edmonton, then deploying on Op ASSISTANCE (Winnipeg flood - 1997). 

Concluding his first tour in 1CER, CWO Merriam was posted to CFSME in 2000 where he fulfilled the positions as an instructor in the Field Engineer Training Squadron and Standards cell before returning to 1CER in 2005. During his second rotation to 1CER he deployed on his second operational tour as the 12 Sqn Ops WO on Op ATHENA; employed as the 18 Sqn Ops and did a quick stint in Regimental Ops during Op PODIUM.

Over the span of the next 10 years, CWO Merriam broadened his breadth of experience commencing with his first tour in 2010 to 2 CER as the 24 Squadron Sergeant Major; A Squadron SM in PSTC in 2014; Garrison Sergeant Major at Longue-Pointe Montréal before being promoted CWO in 2016, and posted to CADTC as the Training and Safety CWO. In 2017 CWO Merriam was appointed as the 20th RSM of 2 CER and was appointed as CME Branch CWO in August 2020.

Among his decorations, CWO Merriam is a recipient of the Medal of Bravery for his actions during Op HARMONY, Croatia in 1994.

CWO Merriam enjoys a variety of physical activities, including being a CAF Masters National Squash Champion.
