From 3–14 August 26, Canadian Military Engineers from 19 Mission Support Squadron (19 MSS), 17 MSS, and 14 Construction Engineering Squadron (14 CES) participated in the Construction Engineering Project Exchange Program (CEPEP) at Camp Murray, Washington.
CEPEP provides Canadian and United States military engineers with opportunities to work alongside one another, exchange technical knowledge, develop trade skills, and strengthen interoperability between both nations.
This year’s project brought Canadian personnel together with members of the U.S. Air National Guard to support the renovation of Building 117, at Camp Murray, converting an existing office and warehouse space into a functional fitness facility. Work included drywall finishing, painting, electrical installations, plumbing, ventilation, shower finishes, and other interior construction activities.
Beyond completing the project, CEPEP provided valuable opportunities for members to learn from their American counterparts and gain experience working outside their normal trades. Canadian and U.S. personnel shared techniques, mentored junior members, and worked together to overcome challenges while maintaining project momentum.
The 2026 CEPEP demonstrated the professionalism and technical expertise of military engineers on both sides of the border. More importantly, it strengthened the relationships and interoperability that allow Canada and the United States to operate effectively together at home and abroad.
