After more than 25 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Military Engineer Branch, LCol W.M. Dixon, CD, (00181) will retire on 4 July 2025. LCol Dixon enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in 2000, graduated from the Royal Military College of Canada with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, and was posted to 4 Engineer Support Regiment (ESR) on completion of Engineer training. This first Regimental tour saw LCol Dixon employed as 42 Field Squadron Operations officer, 22 Field Troop Commander, to include deployment on TF 1-07 in that role, and as 42 Field Squadron Second in Command. LCol Dixon was posted as Regular Support Staff (RSS) to 45 Engineer Squadron prior to his
second Regimental tour with 4 ESR. During this period, he was employed as the Regimental Operations Officer, and Officer Commanding 42 Field Squadron and then 48 Combat Service Support Squadron. Following his Regimental time LCol Dixon moved to the Joint Engineer branch at the Canadian Joint Operational Command Headquarters. He then attended the United States (US) Army Command and General Staff College (CGSC) at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, and was selected to complete a second year at the US Army School of Advanced Military Studies.
On return to Canada LCol Dixon was assigned to the Canadian Army Headquarters as the International Engagements Section Second in Command. He was then posted as the Engineer occupational analysis team lead with Director Personnel Generation and Readiness.
In 2020 LCol Dixon was appointed as Commanding Officer of 4 Engineer Support Regiment.
Following this position, he was employed as the Deputy Commander of 5th Canadian Division Support Group and Base Gagetown.
LCol Dixon has a Master of Military Arts and Sciences from the US Army CGSC and a Master of Business Administration from Webster University.
LCol Dixon and his wife Rebekah have two children, Cooper and Isla, they enjoy spending time outdoors as a family and will be moving home to Nova Scotia on retirement.
