We regret to advise of the death of Lieutenant Colonel Ranjeet Kumar Gupta, CD (Ret’d), peacefully at his home in Ottawa on 15 August 2025 at the age of 59. Rangeet was Director of Environmental Engineering Management with ADM IE.
Ranjeet was born in Dallas, Texas and grew up in Sainte-Foy QC. He joined the Canadian Forces under the Regular Officer Training Plan and graduated from the Royal Military College in Kingston in 1987 with a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering. After completing his officer training at the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering in Chilliwack BC, his first posting was to 5e Régiment du génie de combat in Valcartier QC where, over two postings, he served in a variety of field positions, including Field Troop Commander, Operations Officer, Field Squadron Commander and Deputy Commanding Officer.
Ranjeet also served as Regular Support Staff with 21 Field Engineer Squadron (M) in Flin Flon MB (1990 to 1992). In 1993, he deployed to Bosnia with the 2nd Battalion of the Royal 22e Régiment on Operation CAVALIER ROTO 1 as an engineer squadron Second-in-Command.
Ranjeet commanded 9e Escadron de génie (M) in Rouyn-Noranda QC (1996 to 1998). He was appointed honorary Aide-de-Camp to the Lieutenant Governor of Quebec in 1997 and commanded the Canadian Forces Recruiting Centre in Montreal QC (1998 to 2001). He then returned to 5e RGC where he was Deputy Commander before becoming Commandant of the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering (2005 to 2008).
For his second career, Ranjeet joined the Public Service with ADM IE where he became Director of Environmental Engineering Management.
A graveside service will be held on 26 September 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the National Military Cemetery, located at 280 Beechwood Avenue in Ottawa. A reception will follow to honor and remember the life of Ranjeet. A digital Condolence Book is available.
