We regret to advise of the death of James Patrick “Jim” Power (Ret’d), peacefully on 3 May 2026, in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico at age 90.
Jim was born in Yarmouth NS and attended Yarmouth Consolidated Memorial High School. He earned his degree in Civil Engineering from St. Francis Xavier University and the University of New Brunswick (1965) and was a member of the Canadian Officer Training Corps contingent.
Jim was commissioned as a Royal Canadian Engineer Officer and served a short military career before pursuing a career with Johns Manville Canada. He steadily rose through the organization, regularly moving his family across Canada, to become President and Chief Operating Officer of Johns-Manville Canada. In 1981, he relocated to Denver, Colorado, where he joined Manville’s Global Senior Executive Leadership team.
Following his corporate career, Jim founded and led several successful companies focused on manufacturing and supplying pipeline coatings. He also served on the Beaver Creek Metro District Board, the Eagle County Water Board and the Beaver Creek Property Owners’ Board.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Parkinson’s Foundation or Humane Colorado.
