CMEA Supports an Engineer in Need After House Fire

Published March 12, 2016

How tragic is it to lose everything you have in a house fire? That happened in January to Cpl Ray Lambe, an RCAF ACS Tech with 14 Air Maintenance Squadron, Greenwood.

Ray is a former Combat Engineer with previous service in 2 CER Petawawa. Base Greenwood came through with much help to Ray and his family, but when the CMEA learned that he was a former Engineer, the wheels started to turn in the CMEA Engineers in Need program. This program aims to assist any Engineer, former or serving, undergoing a personal or family crisis.

Ray is proud of his Engineer roots and even wore an Engineer hat badge on the inside of his air force beret. The beret and an Engineer flag were both lost in the fire. Through the CMEA Engineers in Need program, money was raised for Ray and his family with donations from CMEA Chapters in Chilliwack, Petawawa, Greenwood, and the national office. In addition to the financial support, the Greenwood Chapter recently presented Ray with a new Engineer flag and hat badge. The presentation included, right to left, MWO Bungay (Deputy Fire Chief), MWO Robar (14 Wing CE MWO), Cpl Ray Lambe, Major Button (14 Wing CEO), and MWO Knight (Deputy of Operations). "Once an Engineer, always an Engineer."
