To All CME units and members

I am pleased to announce the release of the CME Strategic Intent, endorsed by CME leadership at Branch Council this past April. The result of much engineer deliberation, this document, intended for both internal CME and wider CF audiences, has set the course for the CME for the next 25 years, and will help to ensure that the CME community remains relevant to the CF.

The Canadian Military Engineers, although employed within the various environmental commands, are an integral part of Canada’s overall joint and integrated defence capability. As such, the CME Strategic Intent is in concert with current Departmental, CF and ECS strategies.

The CME Strategic Intent explains how the CME will achieve the CF vision and address the challenges of the future by capitalizing on the strength of engineers and overcoming any capability gaps to ensure that the CME remains strategically relevant to the CF. The ultimate goal is to provide the best possible military engineering capability for the CF.

A lot of analysis and deliberation within the CME community has gone into the CME Strategic intent; however, a lot of work remains to be done to resolve the CME capability gaps that have been (and will continue to be) identified. Branch Council is confident that with the CME Strategic Intent as a guiding vision, the Canadian Military Engineers are well placed to provide well-coordinated support to CF initiatives, more able to achieve synergy in meeting the needs of our nation, and that we will be successful in resolving outstanding CF CME capability gaps.

I have no doubt that with the CME Strategic Intent as a solid foundation, the Canadian Military Engineers are stronger than ever, well placed to meet the future needs of the CF, and that collectively we will be successful in resolving outstanding issues.

Chimo!
