The Chief of the General Staff, General John Vance has announced the following promotions and key appointments for two CME officers (CANFORGEN 008/16 CDS 003/16 191319Z JAN 16):
- Major-General P.F. Wynnyk will be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-General and appointed Commander of the Canadian Army replacing Lieutenant-General J.M.M. Hainse.
- Colonel M.A.J. Carignan will be promoted to the rank of Brigadier-General and appointed Canadian Army Chief of Staff Land Operations replacing Brigadier-General J.P.H.H. Gosselin.
