The CFSME Command Team and contingent travelled to Chilliwack, British Columbia, in support of Operation GRANITE for the rededication of the All Sappers Memorial—the principal memorial of the Canadian Military Engineers and a focal point of remembrance for generations of Sappers. First dedicated on 14 July 1946, this year marks its 80th anniversary.
The ceremony united serving members, veterans, and honoured guests to recognize the enduring legacy and sacrifices of Canadian military engineers. The parade was presided over by Chief Military Engineer MGen Nick Pilon and Col Comd LGen (ret’d) Paul Wynnyk, with Commandant LCol Heather Reibin as parade commander, re-enacting LCol Coulson Norman Mitchell, CV, CM, who commanded the parade 80 years ago.
CFSME personnel joined Sappers from across Canada, including 1 CER, to honour those who served and those who made the ultimate sacrifice, including attending the unveiling of a memorial plaque during the Combat Diver Memorial Service at Cultus Lake. The event underscored the strong bond between past and present generations of engineers and reaffirmed the values and traditions of the Engineer Branch.
