Cpl Martin Dubé

We regret to advise that Corporal Joseph Robert Martin Dubé was killed in action on 14 June 2009 in the Panjwai District, south-west of Kandahar City, Afghanistan, at the age of 35 years.
Martin was a Combat Engineer serving with 5e Regiment du génie de combat in Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Valcartier, QC and was serving as a member of the Joint Task Force Headquarters.
Martin was born in Quebec City, QC. He joined the Canadian Forces in 2003 and after completing his Combat Engineer training at the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering in CFB Gagetown, NB he was posted to 5e Regiment du génie de combat. He was killed when he responded to a call to neutralise two improvised explosive devices (IED) and one of them exploded. He was on his first operational deployment.
A repatriation ceremony was held on 17 June at CFB Trenton, ON. Visitation will take place at the Claude Charest Funeral Home, 21 Jolicoeur Street, Sainte-Catherine de-la-Jacques-Cartier, QC on 23 June from 9:00 to 11:00 followed by a military funeral at Ste-Jeanne d'Arc Catholic Chapel, CFB Valcartier, at 11:30.
