Alfred Henry Robert “Bob” Diplock

    We regret to advise of the death of Alfred Henry Robert “Bob” Diplock at home in Nanaimo BC on 29 October 2002 at the age of 80 years.

    Bob was born in Camping, MB and moved with his family to Nanaimo when he was six. He joined the army in 1942 and was a veteran on the Second World War. He served as a radio operator in the Royal Canadian Engineers in the 1st Division seeing action in Sicily, Italy and Northwest Europe.

    After the war, Bob was a well-known and respected masonry contractor. He did business as Diplock Concrete in Nanaimo for many years and retired in 1983. As a highly respected member of the community and a lover of all sports, Bob coached and sponsored juvenile soccer and umpired numerous local softball teams for many years.  He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #10 in Nanaimo.
