WO/Adj Christian Morrissette, CD

    Warrant Officer Christian Morrissette will be retiring from the Canadian Forces on June 11th, 2012, after completing 27+ years of loyal and dedicated service.

    He enrolled in the Canadian Forces in Oct 84 as an Infantryman, and upon completion of basic training in Dec 84, he was sent to the R22R Battle School, in Valcartier. During his stay with the Vandoos, WO Morrissette was first attached to the 2R22R at the Citadelle of Quebec, then joined the 1R22R to go to Germany in 85, part of 4Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group at CFB Lahr. During his long 5 1/2 years posting to Lahr, he got promoted to Corporal, and met Heike, his wife. He applied for voluntary occupational transfer as an Electrical Distribution Technician while he was still overseas and upon acceptation of his OT, he returned to Canada in Dec 90 to attend QL3 in Chilliwack. In Aug 91, he was posted to the naval construction troop of CFB Halifax, where he participated in hurricane Andrew’s disaster relief operation in Aug 92. He also worked on community projects for Habitat for Humanity and participated in the construction of the recreation center in Greenwood and the cadet camp in Shearwater. In July 95, he went back to Chilliwack to attend his QL5a course. Then, in the summer of 97, WO Morrissette was posted to CFB Montreal where he worked in the Electrical shop. He’s been part of the Ice Storm’s disaster relief effort deployed by the CF during the first months of 98, where eastern Ontario and southern Quebec areas population suffered from power losses and other damages. Later the same year, he deployed the CFS ALERT for over 5 months and got promoted to the rank of MCpl when he got back in Dec 98. He got posted to CFB North Bay in July 99 where he was the electrical shop supervisor, for both above and below-ground facilities. He also participated in a US military exchange program in May 2000, where he deployed to Alaska, USA. He attended the PLQ course in Borden in Sept 2000 and got promoted to the rank of Sgt in Dec of the same year . Always on the move, WO Morrissette was posted to 4 Engineer Support Regiment, 74 Construction troop in the fall of 01. During his time at 4ESR, he acted as TP RECCE Sgt and project coordinator. During his time in Gagetown, he’s been attached-posted to CFSME, where he taught on a ED TECH QL3 and QL5a course and attended his QL6a course in the fall of 02. He also deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina on a 6 months tour to Velika Kladusa as a facility manager and electrical contracts monitoring inspector for the NSE contingent, from Mar 03 to Oct 03. Back from Bosnia, WO Morrissette spend a few more months in Gagetown, until he got promoted to the rank of Warrant Officer in June 04. He got posted to 1 ESU in Moncton two months later. During his two years stint in Moncton he worked in the design & drafting cell, where he worked, as other things, on the deployable1000 man-camp design. He attended his ILQ course in Sept 05 at RMC Saint-Jean and his QL6b at CFSME in the spring of 06. Posted to CFB Bagotville in the summer of 06, WO Morrissette occupied the Plan O 2I/C position, the Prod O 2 I/C and the Contracts supervisor for Base CE. He left CFB Bagotville in July 09, to move to ASU St-Jean, Qc, where is occupied the position of Ops O of Base CE until recently.

    Christian, his wife Heike, his son Yanick and his daughter Noémie-Rose, will be staying in the Montreal area, where he will begin a new career as a hockey instructor for a Sports-Study school program.
