We regret to advise of the death of Warrant Officer 2nd Class Stewart Gerald “Gerry” Wyatt, CD (Ret'd). a resident of Kipnes Care in Edmonton AB on 20 September 2025 at age 98.
Gerry’s early life centred on the Army as he was born in Wolseley Barracks in London ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Engineers as the Second World War was coming to a close. After Gerry learned his draughtsman trade at the Royal Canadian School of Military Engineering, duty took him to Edmonton in 1950 at the start of a 25-year career with the RCE.
Following his retirement from the Canadian Forces in 1967, Gerry transitioned his trade into civilian life, first with a two-year stint at Atomic Energy Canada and then a move to Pinawa, MB. He next secured his final career position at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, where he worked in the physical plant until his retirement at the age of 63. After a lengthy and healthy retirement, Gerry entered the Kipnes Care facility in early 2024.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, 8 October 2025, at the Hainstock Funeral Home in Edmonton. Online condolences can be sent to the funeral home.
