We regret to advise of the death of William David “Bill” Beaton, peacefully at the Ottawa General Hospital on 24 October 2014 at the age of 94 years. Bill was a veteran of the Second World War.

Bill was born in Saskatchewan. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1940 and served with the 133 (Fighter) Squadron. After demobilization, Bill joined the Permanent Force with the RCAF and served with the Construction Engineers until 1975. Following his release from the Canadian Forces, Bill worked for the Department of Public Works from 1976 to 1985.

Bill was a life member of the Nepean Museum and the Ottawa Vintage Radio Club. He was also a member of the Robert Burns World Federation.

Friends may call at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean on 30 October from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Funeral service to be held in the Chapel on 31 October at 11:00 a.m. Interment in the Merivale United Cemetery followed by reception at Merivale United Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ottawa Diabetes Society or the Ottawa Humane Society.
