    We regret to advise of the death of Sapper Liam Owen “Woody” Vickers on 2 May 2023 at age 26 in Kingston General Hospital as the result of his injuries following a car accident three weeks earlier. 

    Liam was born in Niagara Falls ON and spent the majority of his life in St. Catharines. Throughout high school, Liam developed a love for rowing and continued to fuel this passion after enlisting with the Canadian Armed Forces. Liam enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in 2016 as a Construction Engineer Officer and attended the Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario. During his time at the College, he was an active member of the RMC Rowing Team and was fond of his courses in Surveying. Liam went on to represent Canada in the 100th Anniversary of the King’s Cup at the Henley Royal Regatta in England.

    Liam changed his career trajectory in 2020 when he transfered his occupation to Geomatics Technician. Liam began his QL5 Geomatics Technician Course in 2021 at Algonquin College in Ottawa On. He was set to graduate in June and was to be posted to 2 Combat Engineer Regiment at CFB Petawawa

    Visitation will be held at George Darte Funeral Chapel 585 Carlton St, St Catharines ON on Saturday 27 May from 1-3:00 pm with a memorial service at 3:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.  Online condolences can be sent to the funeral home
