We regret to advise of the death of Sapper John William Fraser (Ret’d) at the Shiretown Nursing Home in Pictou, NS on 2 February 2010 at the age of 97 years.

John was born in Lower Mount Thom, NS and lived there and in Stellerton, NS for most of his life.  He was a Royal Canadian Engineer veteran of the Second World War who served in both the Italian and Northwest European theatres. After the war, John worked as a farmer, road foreman and Corp of Commissionaires until retirement. He was a member of St. Luke Presbyterian Church in Salt Springs NS, of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #16, Pictou and of the Eighth Army Veterans Association of Canada.

A public graveside service will be held at a later date in Gladstone Cemetery, Four Mile Brook.  Donations in his memory may be made to the Shiretown Nursing Home, or a charity of your choice. ^{{dcJan19gd} [zsd, zpp]}
